US Ignite Announces 2018 Reverse Pitch Competition

US Ignite is thrilled to announce the commencement of the 2018 Smart Gigabit Communities Reverse Pitch Competitions – where local entrepreneurs, hackers, makers, developers and students compete for a pool of cash and in-kind prizes by designing next generation applications and services to solve real world problems.

US Ignite’s Reverse Pitch Competition turns the tables on the traditional incentive prize competition! Local businesses, city governments, and civic organizations within Smart Gigabit Communities (SGCs) will have the opportunity to present their unique challenges to their community’s creative minds to ideate and develop innovative gigabit applications solutions to a community’s most vexing problems. Reverse Pitches provide community entrepreneurs and developers the opportunity, partnerships and resources for exclusive collaborations on groundbreaking work that will impact areas of national priority, including transportation, advanced manufacturing, education, public safety, healthcare, and energy.

US Ignite will co-sponsor Reverse Pitches in up to ten of US Ignite’s SGCs - the SGC program is a network of communities nationwide that have each committed to leverage next-generation smart city and Internet technologies for sustainable gigabit innovation ecosystems to keep pace with the world’s rapidly changing, technology-driven economy. The Reverse Pitch events will be held from December 2017-May 2018.

Local organizations or municipalities that want to embrace next generation solutions to solve community problems in the participating SGCs will provide matching contributions to US Ignite's $20,000 in cash and services, for a total of $40,000 or more of cash and in-kind resources to be invested in a SGC’s Reverse Pitch to support entrepreneurs to develop smart gigabit applications.

US Ignite is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that spurs the creation of next-generation applications and services that leverage advanced networking technologies to build the foundation for smart communities, including cities, rural areas, regions, and states. The nonprofit organization helps to accelerate new wired and wireless networking advances from research to prototype to full-scale smart community and interconnected national deployments.
